Our Story
Back in 2020, when the world hit pause and NYC felt like an empty playground, I found myself with way too much time on my hands. I needed a hobby—something fun, something creative. And for me, food has always been my go-to escape, whether it’s home-cooked meals or sweet treats.
That’s when my brother-in-law, Nestor, stepped in. He’s from Michoacán, Mexico—where paletas are a staple—and he grew up making them at his aunt’s shop before moving to the U.S. He taught me the craft, and pretty soon, what started as a fun little experiment turned into something bigger.
We decided, as a family, to take a shot at this frozen dessert dream. We make our popsicles by hand, in small batches, using fresh fruits sourced straight from Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx. In 2021, we did a soft launch—brought in all our machinery from Mexico and started selling to friends and family across NYC and Philly.
As we kept going, we added hand-crafted gelato to the mix. Word spread, the community showed love, and before we knew it, we outgrew our home setup and moved into a commercial kitchen in Spanish Harlem.
And here we are—still making frozen treats with love, one batch at a time.
Our Mission & What We Offer
At Sabor Michoacano, we celebrate the art of traditional Mexican paletas with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and handcrafted care. Each of our pops is made with love, inspired by the vibrant flavors of Mexico, and created in small batches to ensure quality and authenticity.
We take pride in sourcing high-quality fruit, carefully selecting and preparing each ingredient—whether it’s peeling mangos and pineapples, juicing fresh citrus, or crafting rich, creamy blends.
Our facility also processes products containing milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and wheat. We label all our pops and pints with full ingredient lists, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
